With the implementation of iPads in our K-3 classrooms, it was important that our students engaged in a tactile way, even with the technology. Tiggly is great for our youngest learners! It allows students to handle objects while still learning and receiving feedback from the iPad. Tiggly has several apps that are free to download. Tiggly has received many accolades, including being named one of TIME Magazine’s “Toys that will make your kid smarter” and “one of the best pre-school tech toys of the year”.
You can order Tiggly Shapes, Tiggly Math and Tiggly Words. Each Tiggly box comes with durable rubber play pieces (with small pads on the bottom of each, allowing the app to recognize the piece by touching the screen), housed in a convenient drawstring bag, making it easy to take them on the go! There are several free apps per Tiggly box (3 for shapes, 3 for math and 3 for words) that are designed to work with the play pieces, which essentially encourage your child to place the rubber objects onto your iPad screen. Each app can also be played without the pieces, but the rubber manipulative are the “magic” that enhances the experience of the apps.
Each app is engaging for young learners and is able to sustain the attention of those learning with it! Tiggly truly provides children with a fun, engaging, hands-on learning experience while using technology. This past weekend, Tiggly released a new app, partnering with Sesame Street. I look forward to more apps being released that work with the Tiggly manipulatives!
I’ve purchased these learning kits for our school’s youngest learners (PreK-Kinder) and can’t wait to see them in action! In the meantime, my son has been LOVING the Tiggly apps & pieces!
